The First ‘The Fantastic Four’ Teaser Is Here!

fantastic-banner-new-1-27Today, we got our first real glimpse of Josh Trank’s (‘Chronicle’) vision of ‘The Fantastic Four’. Starring Miles Teller (‘Whiplash’), Kate Mara (‘House of Cards’), Jamie Bell (‘Billy Elliot), Michael B. Jordan (‘Fruitvale Station’), and Toby Kebbell, ‘Fantastic Four’ tells the orgin story of our favorite band of Marvel heros. It’s been a long time coming as the film opens this summer and has had a ton of different negative reports surrounding the production–including reshoots. Well, let’s take a look:

It’s only a teaser, so while I, of course, would like to see more, it gave me the perfect taste for now. We caught of few glimpses of Mr. Fantastic (Teller), The Invisible Woman (Mara), The Human Torch (Jordan), and The Thing (Bell), while being introduced to some of it’s themes and aesthetics. By setting up an attempt to make this story feel to raw, will it fantastic-image-10-1-27succumb to being too generic by not going all the way with it’s ideals? Do you like the rough edges? Was that the negative zone featured? While there weren’t any villain sightings, Dr. Doom or Moleman, I saw enough content to keep to start a conversation and keep me genuinely interested in what Trank and writer/producer Simon Kinberg will being to the mainstream comic book mix together.

It’s incredibly hard to be rebooting a series in an attempt to create something new, as well as erasing something that came before. If anything, I appreciate Fox not leaking anything and letting us judge without jamming marketing down our throats…yet.

‘The Fantastic Four’ opens on August 15th, 2015. Josh Trank’s next project is the untitled ‘Star Wars’ spin-off.
